These workshops will include a brief explanation of the Gestalt approach to dreamwork, and an opportunity to explore actual dream material in a group process format. About Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy
Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy is one of the leading post-graduate training programs in New York City.
We are committed to the teaching, practice, and continued development of Gestalt Therapy, through our training programs and low-fee clinic.
Gestalt Therapy emphasizes the here and now, and seeks to find the balance between accepting our creative adjustments to past circumstances, while also heightening our awareness of the fuller range of creative and spontaneous possibilities that are available to us in the present moment. It is a therapy that respects the integration of mind and body, so its focus is on the interplay between the cognitive and emotional aspects of the self. It is also a relational therapy, predicated on the belief that when we meet in the present moment with fullness and openness, with genuine and unreserved acceptance, we create the ground from which all healing takes place.
The roots of Gestalt therapy are embedded in developmental, political, and social forces as they affect us and are affected by us. Gay & transgender rights, racial, ethnic, and religious equality, individual uniqueness, and restorative justice are all parts of this field, as are spiritual experience, intimacy, and more. We endeavor to integrate this fundamental appreciation of our common humanity into our training and into our work with our clients.
Introduction to Gestalt Therapy
with Patricia Tucker, LCSW
This workshop offers an opportunity to experience yourself within an interactive group environment. You will be guided to explore your own experience in the moment, respond to others, and give and receive feedback as we discuss some of the basics of Gestalt therapy.
