Admission to all programs is based on review of your application and personal interview.
Admission requirements vary by program.

4-Year Clinical Fellowship Program
Open to those licensed to practice psychotherapy: Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychoanalysts, Nurses’ and Physician’s Assistants.

4-Year Psychoanalytic Program
Candidates with a Master’s Degree or PhD in any field may apply to our psychoanalytic program to become licensed to practice psychotherapy in NYS.
Please note: all MA Degrees from a non-US university must be evaluated by NYS prior to program admission.

1-Year Introductory Program
Anyone with an interest in Gestalt therapy may apply to our 1-year program. Those clinicians who already have an active practice but want to add to their knowledge and skills will find our program challenging and exciting. Also, people from allied fields such as business consulting, coaching, public relations, body work and others can add to their professional skill set in our Introductory Program.

4-Year Clinical Fellowship Program
Friday Night Courses & Practicum:
$3700 per year / no materials fee.Weekly Supervision, starting in Level II:
$40 per group session or $80 per 1-hour individual session.Weekly Psychotherapy:
At least 2 years of individual therapy, and at least 1 year of group therapy, plus one year of either group therapy or individual therapy. Fees for therapy are arranged privately with the individual or group therapist.Trainees may opt to register for courses from our Psychoanalytic Program.
Additional Coursework for Psychoanalytic Courses is $300 for each 10-hour course; $450 for each 15-hour course. -
4-Year Psychoanalytic Program
Friday Night Courses & Practicum:
$3700 per year / no materials fee.Psychoanalytic Courses:
$300-$450 per each additional 10-hour or 15-hour required Psychoanalytic Course, for a total of 22 additional courses over the duration of training, as specified in the Program Outline.$8250 over the duration of training, for an average of $2062.50 per year.
Weekly Supervision, starting in Level II:
Group Supervision sessions are $40/session. Single case supervision sessions range from $40-$80 per session.Typical annual cost for weekly supervision is $1920. Single Case Supervision is once (one year) and $2000 or $4000 (group or individual)
Weekly Psychotherapy:
At least 250 hours of individual therapy, and at least 1 year of group therapy, to meet the NYS requirement of 300 hours. Fees for therapy are arranged privately with the individual or group therapist. Prior therapy may be applied to the 300 hour requirement, depending on the prior therapist’s licensure and other qualifications. -

Scholarships
During the current Academic year, we are offering a limited number of partial scholarships, with the goal of promoting racial, ethnic, and gender diversity both in our training program, and in the larger profession of psychotherapy.
To Apply for a Scholarship please complete our Scholarship Application. You’ll be asked to paste or upload a one page (maximum) statement describing how you would bring diversity to GAP, and also how your current economic circumstances indicate the need for a scholarship, including current monthly family income, and monthly payments for housing, childcare, and outstanding student loans.
Statements will be kept confidential. Please submit applications by August 31, and we will respond promptly.
